* dt-bindings: sh_eth convert bindings to json-schemaSimon Horman2019-10-011-69/+0
| | | | | | | | | | Convert Renesas Electronics SH EtherMAC bindings documentation to json-schema. Also name bindings documentation file according to the compat string being documented. | | | | | | | | Add support for the R7S9210 which is part of the RZ/A2 series. Signed-off-by: Chris Brandt <chris.brandt@renesas.com> Acked-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* dt-bindings: remove 'interrupt-parent' from bindingsRob Herring2018-07-251-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | 'interrupt-parent' is often documented as part of define bindings, but it is really outside the scope of a device binding. It's never required in a given node as it is often inherited from a parent node. Or it can be implicit if a parent node is an 'interrupt-controller' node. So remove it from all the binding files. | | | | | | | | | | | | | Finally, add support for the DT probing of the R-Car V3H (AKA R8A77980) -- it's the only R-Car gen3 SoC having the GEther controller -- others have only EtherAVB... * dt-bindings: net: sh_eth: add R-Car Gen[12] fallback compatibility stringsSimon Horman2017-10-201-2/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add fallback compatibility strings for R-Car Gen 1 and 2. In the case of Renesas R-Car hardware we know that there are generations of SoCs, f.e. Gen 1 and 2. But beyond that its not clear what the relationship between IP blocks might be. For example, I believe that r8a7790 is older than r8a7791 but that doesn't imply that the latter is a descendant of the former or vice versa. We can, however, by examining the documentation and behaviour of the hardware at run-time observe that the current driver implementation appears to be compatible with the IP blocks on SoCs within a given generation. For the above reasons and convenience when enabling new SoCs a per-generation fallback compatibility string scheme is being adopted for drivers for Renesas SoCs. Note that R-Car Gen2 and RZ/G1 have many compatible IP blocks. The approach that has been consistently taken for other IP blocks is to name common code, compatibility strings and so on after R-Car Gen2. | | | | | | | | | | Add support for the first two members of the Renesas RZ/G family, RZ/G1M/E (also known as R8A7743/5). The Ether core is the same as in the R-Car gen2 SoCs, so will share the code/data with them...
