* drm/tests: Add a test for DRM managed actionsMaxime Ripard2022-12-082-0/+72
| | | | | | | | | | DRM-managed actions are supposed to be ran whenever the device is released. Let's introduce a basic unit test to make sure it happens. * drm/tests: helpers: Allow for a custom device struct to be allocatedMaxime Ripard2022-12-084-36/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The current helper to allocate a DRM device doesn't allow for any subclassing by drivers, which is going to be troublesome as we work on getting some kunit testing on atomic modesetting code. Let's use a similar pattern to the other allocation helpers by providing the structure size and offset as arguments. | | | | | | | | | | | | The device managed resources are freed when the device is detached, so it has to be bound in the first place. Let's create a fake driver that we will bind to our fake device to benefit from the device managed cleanups in our tests. * drm/probe-helper: Provide a TV get_modes helperNoralf Trønnes2022-11-242-0/+206
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Most of the TV connectors will need a similar get_modes implementation that will, depending on the drivers' capabilities, register the 480i and 576i modes. That implementation will also need to set the preferred flag and order the modes based on the driver and users preferrence. This is especially important to guarantee that a userspace stack such as Xorg can start and pick up the preferred mode while maintaining a working output. * drm/modes: Properly generate a drm_display_mode from a named modeMaxime Ripard2022-11-241-1/+83
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The framework will get the drm_display_mode from the drm_cmdline_mode it got by parsing the video command line argument by calling drm_connector_pick_cmdline_mode(). The heavy lifting will then be done by the drm_mode_create_from_cmdline_mode() function. In the case of the named modes though, there's no real code to make that translation and we rely on the drivers to guess which actual display mode we meant. Let's modify drm_mode_create_from_cmdline_mode() to properly generate the drm_display_mode we mean when passing a named mode. * drm/modes: Add a function to generate analog display modesMaxime Ripard2022-11-242-0/+146
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Multiple drivers (meson, vc4, sun4i) define analog TV 525-lines and 625-lines modes in their drivers. Since those modes are fairly standard, and that we'll need to use them in more places in the future, it makes sense to move their definition into the core framework. However, analog display usually have fairly loose timings requirements, the only discrete parameters being the total number of lines and pixel clock frequency. Thus, we created a function that will create a display mode from the standard, the pixel frequency and the active area. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | tests The drm_test_dp_mst_sideband_msg_req_decode repeats the same test structure with different parameters. This could be better represented by parameterized tests, provided by KUnit. In addition to the parameterization of the tests, the test case for the client ID was changed: instead of using get_random_bytes to generate the client ID, the client ID is now hardcoded in the test case. This doesn't affect the assertively of the tests, as this test case only compare the data going in with the data going out and it doesn't transform the data itself in any way. So, convert drm_test_dp_mst_sideband_msg_req_decode into parameterized tests and make the tests' allocations and prints completely managed by KUnit. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The drm_test_dp_mst_calc_pbn_mode is based on a loop that executes tests for a couple of test cases. | |/ |/| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The xrgb2101010 format conversion test (unlike for other formats) does an endianness conversion on the results. However, it always converts TEST_BUF_SIZE 32-bit integers, which results in reading from (and writing to) more memory than in present in the result buffer. Instead, use the buffer size, divided by sizeof(u32). The issue could be reproduced with KASAN: ./tools/testing/kunit/kunit.py run --kunitconfig drivers/gpu/drm/tests \ --kconfig_add CONFIG_KASAN=y --kconfig_add CONFIG_KASAN_VMALLOC=y \ --kconfig_add CONFIG_KASAN_KUNIT_TEST=y \ drm_format_helper_test.*xrgb2101010 Reported-by: Linux Kernel Functional Testing <lkft@linaro.org> Fixes: 453114319699 ("drm/format-helper: Add KUnit tests for drm_fb_xrgb8888_to_xrgb2101010()") Signed-off-by: David Gow <davidgow@google.com> Reviewed-by: Maíra Canal <mairacanal@riseup.net> Reviewed-by: Javier Martinez Canillas <javierm@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: José Expósito <jose.exposito89@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Javier Martinez Canillas <javierm@redhat.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20221019073239.3779180-1-davidgow@google.com

|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The prandom_u32() function has been a deprecated inline wrapper around get_random_u32() for several releases now, and compiles down to the exact same code. Replace the deprecated wrapper with a direct call to the real function. The same also applies to get_random_int(), which is just a wrapper around get_random_u32(). This was done as a basic find and replace. * drm/format: Use appropriate types in expect/assertMichał Winiarski2022-09-091-76/+76
| | | | | | | | | | | | | drm_format_info_* functions don't return bool, and the info variable is a pointer. Expecting non-NULL info will cause the test to crash if it is NULL in checks that follow (which dereference it). Use appropriate KUNIT_EXPECT/KUNIT_ASSERT variants. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Expecting to observe a specific value, when the function responsible for setting the value has failed will lead to extra noise in test output. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Negative tests can be expressed as a single parameterized test case, which highlights that we're following the same test logic (passing invalid cmdline and expecting drm_mode_parse_command_line_for_connector to fail), which improves readability. v2: s/negative/invalid to be consistent with other testcases in DRM Signed-off-by: Michał Winiarski <michal.winiarski@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Maíra Canal <mairacanal@riseup.net> Signed-off-by: Maíra Canal <mairacanal@riseup.net> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20220817211236.252091-1-michal.winiarski@intel.com
